We are an auditioned chorus, and we memorize our music for each performance so that we can focus on vocal production and the visual presentation.

Auditions consist of singing a few notes and sight reading a simple song to demonstrate your ability to produce a quality tone and stay on pitch, and to determine your vocal range. We produce two concert seasons each year, with 5 or 6 performances each season. We begin rehearsals for the Fall (Christmas) season in late August or early September, and for the Spring season in late January or early February. Therefore, the best time to audition is January or June/July.

If you would like to schedule an audition, please fill out the form below or contact:

Student Scholarship Program

THE POPS CHORALE

We are pleased to announce the 2022 Pops Chorale Student Scholarship Program. The purpose of this program is to encourage music education for college-bound students pursuing a degree with an emphasis in vocal performance in the pops, Broadway or light classical genre, and for talented pre-high school or high school students who intend to pursue a degree with the same emphasis.

This scholarship program affords young people the opportunity to perform in front of live audiences and further their vocal instruction, providing a conduit for bringing talented young singers and performing artists into the Pops Chorale.

Two types of scholarship will be awarded to residents of the greater Sacramento region:

  • A one-time scholarship of $2,500 will be made to a qualifying high school senior or college student
  • A one-time scholarship of $800 will be made to each of three pre-high or high school students aged 12 to 17
