The Pops Chorale, led by artistic/musical director Lorin Miller, is an 80-voice auditioned choral group in the greater Sacramento area that features talented, multi-generational singers and professional, highly entertaining choral music. Sung entirely from memory, the Chorale’s repertoire represents a variety of styles, with a strong emphasis on the popular music of the last 75 years, including the best of Broadway, big band, holiday, Hollywood and more. 

From students to retirees, the Pops Chorale is diverse in its membership but bonded by a score of vocal talent, a love of music and a desire to put on memorable and uplifting shows for their audiences. Under Lorin’s inspired leadership, the Chorale has become known for its varied and innovative programs. Enhanced by creative costuming, staging and choreography, the Pops Chorale consistently delivers a magical theater experience that is vibrant, energetic and unforgettable.

The Pops Chorale, performing with the Pops Orchestra, presents two major concert series annually - “Broadway Pops” in May, featuring americana to Broadway to jazz standards, and “Holiday Pops” in December, featuring Christmas classics. The Chorale also hosts benefit concerts and special events, including “Hollywood at Harris”, a gala honoring the best in film music. The Pops Chorale has previously toured internationally to Ireland, Spain and Slovenia, and is always looking for opportunities to broaden their musical scope.
 
The Pops Chorale operates within the OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) program at Sierra College in Rocklin, CA, a program designed for lifelong learners.

The Pops Orchestra, conducted by artistic/musical director Lorin Miller, is a group of paid professionals that are among the best musicians on the West Coast. A robust collection of brass, percussion, string and woodwind instrumentalists, the Pops Orchestra consistently produces recording-level live sound. Ranging from a 12-piece chamber ensemble to a 30-piece band to a 40-piece orchestra, the Orchestra plays a wide variety of musical styles from Broadway to classical to jazz to pop.

The Pops Orchestra performs annually with the Pops Chorale for “Broadway Pops” in May, “Holiday Pops” in December, “Big Band” in March, and “Hollywood in Harris” in October. The Pops Orchestra has garnered reputational renown for the unparalleled musicianship it brings to every concert. We are proud to offer the community a phenomenal orchestra whose participants are at the top of their musical field.

Director

In his eighteenth year as artistic/musical director of the Pops Chorale, Lorin Miller brings a distinguished background as a solo performer, music educator and choral director. In addition to his work with the Chorale, Lorin serves as executive musical director and co-founder of “A Gift of the Heart,” a Placer County performing arts organization benefiting local charities.

A California native, Lorin grew up in Grass Valley where he developed a deep love of music. He holds an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in Humanities with a music performance concentration. After graduation, he produced, recorded and toured with a solo album before pursuing film scoring at UCLA.

Following his successful career in Hollywood television production, Lorin returned to this area and to his love of music. Lorin has performed nationally and internationally, throughout Europe and Asia, in a variety of styles from Bach to Broadway. His extensive solo career has most recently included European tours with “A Gift of the Heart” to Slovenia during the fall of 2009, and with the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra to Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Munich in the summer of 2004. Lorin has performed as a tenor soloist with the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra.

A nonprofit organization, PPC Entertainment was established under the visionary direction of Lorin Miller. The mission of PPC Entertainment, as its name suggests, is to entertain audiences with the magic that is live music. The purpose of PPC Entertainment is to provide a platform for local performing arts groups, professional instrumentalists and aspiring music students to share their musical expertise with eager, music-loving audiences. The goal of PPC Entertainment is to enable great performance experiences for the entertainment, education and enrichment of the community.

At PPC Entertainment, we actively seek out opportunities to engage with people from our community and region. We welcome diverse artists, audiences and learners into our multi-generational family and we care for our people, finances and other resources with respect, transparency and equity. 

The Pops Chorale and Orchestra are the heart of PPC Entertainment and serve to cultivate music enrichment opportunities, promote musical talent and collaboration, and create grandiose musical productions for enthusiastic artists and audiences. We mentor and nurture artists of all levels - from novice through advanced - in educational and developmental programs such as The Pops Chorale Student Scholarship Program, which encourages young vocalists and performing artists to further their music studies through higher education by offering financial support.

PPC Entertainment exists as a labor of love and is fully invested in the belief that music has the power to connect people, no matter how alike or different, in profound and life-changing ways.
